News > Colin J. Cuthell 1949-2020

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness we advise that our senior director, Colin Cuthell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday 22nd September 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Colin followed in his father and grandfather’s footsteps and joined our family business almost 40 years ago, he continued to fulfil an active role in our community and in the key decisions affecting the business until recent months.

Our family would like to express our deep appreciation to all who have supported us, we have been truly humbled by the assurances of prayer, cards which have been sent and other acts of kindness in the past fortnight. To see so many line the route as we took Colin on his final journey through the town he loved so much was very moving for our family and the family that is Thomas Cuthell & Sons. For 115 years we have always been thankful for the honour which we have in caring for the bereaved in our community. It has therefore been immensely comforting to see the community come alongside us in so many ways to care for us.

As a result of the generosity of so many people the RNLI in Lochinver will be able to continue its essential work through donations which now exceed £2000.00 in Colin’s memory. Thank you all on behalf of everyone at Thomas Cuthell & Sons.
