News > New Mortuary progress

This has been a project we have been planning for many years and to finally see these plans come to fruition is very exciting not only for us as a family but for our whole team at Thomas Cuthell & Sons.
We are now seven weeks into the project and since the end of July there has been a lot of dust and hoovering to contend with but it is worth it to see how much the work has progressed already.

As you will see from the photograph, our local builders at CAMS Construction began by installing a lot of temporary support to allow the internal walls to be removed, this has enabled them to convert four rooms into one large area. This area will soon become two rooms which will be seperated by our new refrigeration facilities. Our Falkirk Funeral Home was formerly the Sheriff Court building which was originally built in 1888 and, as with any old building, there are ongoing maintenance requirments. We employed the sevices of local businessman Wallace Alexander and his team at Home Protection Services to treat the whole area for damp and thereafter fit moisture resistant plasterboard throughout to ensure our building is maintained in the best possible way.

We are now at the stage where our new drainage is in place and within the next couple of weeks we hope to see our new flooring fitted along with the refrigerated area.

As we look to the future we are confident that this investment will further ensure that our business is equipped in the best possible way to serve our communities.
